Tim Goulding & Helen Comerford
Joint Show
Tim Goulding
Helen Comerford
Artists Tim Goulding and Helen Comerford have been specifically selected to exhibit together. The processes and materials used in both artists work (e.g. encaustic wax, acrylic paint, abstraction of the visual field) promote a materiality and expression which has been carefully and personally developed by each artist. The works exist in a semi-conceptual while material space.
Both artists are established, and very well regarded. Their work features in many solo and group exhibitions, and private & public collections. Please see attached biographies file.
Helen Comerford takes her inspiration from themes such as the “The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz”, one of three manifestos connected with the Rosicrucian Brotherhood, written in the year 1459. This journey takes the form of a "spiritual diary" covering seven days, a journey of initiation and transformation, a true alchemical process that contains many layers of meaning as might be expected in such a document. This work for exhibit in November is an attempt at expressing the spirit of each of the seven days, starting with the first day, Saturday. This series is the fourth in this ongoing investigation. It also links in to Comerford’s Planetary series, another subject matter that she has been working on for some time. www.helencomerford.com
Tim Goulding interprets his experiences and sights on past journeys abroad, distilling his visual and perceptual memory into works such as “Field Trip” series, shown above. Tim Goulding’s recent works mark a dramatic new departure. Tim has journeyed extensively over the past few years and this can be seen with the vivid colours, the quality of light, and the experience of heat, the textures of old Buildings and walls and contact with other cultures, have had a profound impact upon Tim’s work. His work is more resolutely abstract, composed of bold, interlocking shapes; squares, oblongs and gentle curves, and a striking use of colour; soft grey-greens, greys and earthy tones combined with vivid eclectic blues, oranges reds and rust colours.
